In relief for the BJP, disgruntled party leader Lal Muni Chaubey today announced he would withdraw his nomination from Buxar parliamentary seat after persuasion by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the past two days.

"I have decided to withdraw my nomination from Buxar seat on Modi's assurance that he will carry forward the legacies of elder party leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani," Chaubey told reporters here.

The BJP Prime Ministerial candidate also assured him that he would suitably accommodate senior leaders in future who failed to get tickets for the forthcoming parliamentary poll, the 71 year-old BJP leader said.

The four-term BJP MP from Buxar said that he could not ignore Modi calling him twice in the past couple of days and expressing respect.

The veteran BJP leader said that he would campaign for Ashwani Chaube, the BJP candidate from Buxar.

He also said that he would also campaign for Modi in Varanasi located close to Buxar and also other BJP candidates.

The four-term BJP MP had earlier defied the party's decision to deny ticket to him from Buxar and filed his nomination against official nominee Ashwani Kumar Chaube.

He had also come down heavily on the BJP president Rajnath Singh describing him as the 'leader of slaves' and questioned the process of selection of candidates in which senior leaders like him and Jaswant Singh were denied tickets.

Chaubey had refused to withdraw his candidature even after Modi had called him for the first time earlier this week to mollify him.
