Maharashtra will sign agreements entailing investment of over Rs 1 lakh crore in Aurangabad region under the ambitious Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor by the month-end, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said today.
"We will be signing 36 MoUs with companies who will be investing in the DMIC zone in Aurangabad-Shendre region. These are mainly infrastructure projects. Over Rs 1,00,000 crore worth investments are likely to come," Chavan said at an industry event here.
DMIC is an ambitious project which envisages boosting the manufacturing in the regions between the National Capital and the financial capital Mumbai. As a part of the project, Maharashtra has decided to develop the Shendre-Bidkin belt near Aurangabad in the backward Marathwada region.

He further said the development of the Mihan international air cargo hub in Nagpur too was on track.
The Chief Minister said formation of a stable government after the elections was very crucial for economy.
"Will there be same coalition or an arrangement of similar ideology or a marriage of convenience? This will decide what impact it will have on growth. If forming government itself has too many compromises, it will not be good for the country," said Chavan, who heads a Congress-NCP alliance government in the state.
He said there are two risks to the growth: economic uncertainty and political instability. "There has been a slowdown in the global economy and we have seen similar impact here as well. But now we are witnessing some signs of revival both in the global as well as the domestic economy. At the same time, political uncertainty is also posing a risk for growth," he said.
