Cheated youth commits suicide

A 27-year-old youth committed suicide in a Baghariya village of the district after he was allegedly duped of Rs 15 lakh by a teacher on the pretext of sending him to Australia, police said here today.

Baljinder Singh hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his house yesterday, Mulepur Station House Officer (SHO) Kuljit Singh said, adding a suicide note was recovered from the deceased's pocket.

According to a FIR by the deceased's brother, police has registered a case against Jasvir Singh, a government school teacher of the village, and his associate Parmod Kumar Gupta of Patiala.

They allegedly duped the youth in 2012 by luring him to send Australia but they neither send him abroad nor returned his money since then, the SHO said.
 

When the deceased youth asked them to send Australia they started to make excuses.

Last time, the youth had gone to Jasvir Singh's place on Sunday night and returned to his home and fall asleep.

Yesterday morning, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan, police said.
