Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema today expressed strong displeasure over the poor arrangements for lodging, boarding of students participating in state level primary school games at Fatehgarh Sahib.

Cheema, who conducted a surprise visit at Mata Gujri Senior Secondary School and Mata Gujru Sara at Fatehgarh Sahib on Friday late evening, strictly asked the DEO (Secondary), DEO (Elementary) and Deputy Director (Sports) to ensure best facilities for students who were participating in the games, said an official release here.

The Education Minister personally checked the rooms of the players and interacted with them to inquire about the facilities being provided to them.

Peeved over the poor facilities given to budding players, Cheema said that the state government was duty bound to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay for the players who have come from all around to participate in these games.

Cheema asked the officers to ensure that none of the players face any problem during their stay.

The minister said that he would again visit the premises to ensure that arrangements were made properly.

He warned the officers that if any laxity was found on their part, stern action would be taken against them.

Cheema, who had inaugurated the games earlier in the day, said that the primary motive of paying a surprise visit was to ensure that students do not face any problem.

He said that he was monitoring all arrangements so that students arriving from every nook and corner of the state could enjoy warm hospitality during their stay.

He said that the state government was committed for the overall development of school children in which such games could play a pivotal role.

Around 2,000 players are participating in these games.
