Chennai Police Commissioner transferred

Close on the heels of appointing Anoop Jaiswal as DGP (Elections), Election Commission of India today directed transfer of Chennai Police Commissioner S George, replacing him with JK Tripathy.

An official release from the state government said that George will replace Tripathy as ADGP (Prisons).

Tripathy was earlier transferred as Commissioner of Police, Chennai, in the wake of the attack on the US Consulate during protests against the controversial film 'The Innocence of Muslims' in 2012.

Further EC also appointed Santhosh Kumar IPS as SP, Namakkal district in place of SR Senthil Kumar.

On Saturday, ECI had directed the appointment of Jaiswal as DGP (Elections) in a newly created post following DMK's objection against DGP (Law and Order) K Ramanujam continuing in the post following extension.
 

Meanwhile, a government release said that the District Collectors of Salem and Vellore, S Magarabushanam and R Nanthagopal have also been shifted.

They would be replaced by Hanish Chabra, Deputy Secretary, Industries Department and Rajendra Ratnoo, MD, Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation, respectively.

Tuticorin Corporation commissioner S Madumathi is Erode Collector, vice VK Shanmugam, who has been posted to the former's position.

Md Shakeel Akhtar, ADGP, Technical Services is posted as CMD Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation vice Jaiswal.
