The Budget Session of the Kerala Assembly is likely to start on a stormy note with Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala today saying issues ranging from inflation to the Malayalam actress molestation case will be raised in the House.
Chennithala, who met the AICC leadership here, alleged that the Vigilance department in Kerala was biased towards the ruling front and that the government was using it to silence the political rivals.
"The Vigilance department is favouring people close to government. The state government is using it to subdue political rivals. It's a dirty political game being played by the ruling front," the Opposition leader alleged.
"People are suffering due to inflation. Rice now costs Rs 45 per kg. The state has failed in public distribution system. The government is yet to intervene in the market. We plan to raise these issues in the Assembly session that starts tomorrow," he said.
He slammed the state government for carelessness shown in arresting the main culprit in the actress molestation case and said the state is in the grip of goons and anti-socials.
"It is unbecoming of the Kerala Police to show such laxity when it comes to arresting the culprit even after five days of the incident," he said.
"The government came to power after promising safety for women. Now the law and order situation in the state is so bad that even a celebrity is not safe," he added.
He also said the state government is yet to initiate drought relief measures in state.
"The Assembly had declared the state drought-hit four months ago. They are yet to initiate drought relief measures. There is no drinking water for people. MLAs have given their proposals but the government doesn't even have the details of crop loss and cattle deaths. The state is yet to give a representation to the central government regarding these issues," he said.
