A magistrate's court in Indore today registered a cheque bounce case against Madhya Pradesh minister Surendra Patwa.

Judicial Magistrate M P Namdeo ordered registration of a case against Patwa under the Negotiable Instruments Act after examining the documents submitted by a local firm, Harish Traders, which had approached the court.

The court also issued a summons to Patwa, asking him to appear on May 7 and make his submissions.

Complainant's lawyer Sanjay Tiwari said that Patwa, in his capacity as the head of a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), had borrowed Rs 10 lakh from Harish Traders for his family business, but he defaulted on repayment.

Later, he gave a cheque of Rs 10 lakh, which bounced as there were insufficient funds in the bank account, and he didn't pay up even after repeated notices, the lawyer said.
