Singer Cheryl reportedly turned down estranged husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini's request they try to save their marriage through counselling.
The "Fight For This Love" singer instead offered a financial settlement to officially end their union quickly, reported Female First.
A source said, "JB wanted to pull out all the stops to make the marriage work. Cheryl had clearly given up on him but he tried to persuade her to go to counselling sessions with him.
"When she offered money to smooth things over, he refused. JB was never interested in Cheryl's money. He just fancied her like crazy."
Cheryl and Jean-Bernard, who married in a secret ceremony in July 2014, officially split last December and the 32-year-old beauty is now dating One Direction hunk Liam Payne, 23.
