Chg govt asks industries to create AIDS awareness in workers

Chhattisgarh Health Department has asked the private sector industries to create awareness about AIDS among their workers and provide contraceptives to them at factory premises to protect them from infection.

Director, Health Services and Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Society R Prasanna urged the representatives of industries during a workshop held yesterday to provide condoms at its premises to workers, drivers and other labourers, an official statement said today.

The department had organised a workshop on HIV/AIDS awareness for factory workers.

Moreover, the director also suggested to distribute contraceptives at roadside tea stalls, betel shops and eateries located nearby the factories, it said.
 

The factories should organise blood donation camps from time to time and also put up pamphlets and posters carrying awareness messages around its premises, Prasanna said assuring to conduct training session for factory employees and workers on AIDS awareness.

Meanwhile, he also informed about the measures being taken by the state government to prevent AIDS, the release said.
