The Chhattisgarh Government has directed all chief medical and health officers (CMHOs) in state to take effective measures to prevent spread of seasonal diseases during summer season, a Health department official said today.

"The state's Health and Family Welfare department has instructed the CMHOs to take preventive and effective steps to check spread of seasonal diseases like heat stroke during summer season," the official said.

Director, Health Services, yesterday issued a circular instructing the CMHOs of all 27 districts in state.

The official said the Health workers working on field have been directed to stay at their headquarters and to conduct regular monitoring of the situation.

Besides, the department has directed the community health centres, primary health centres, sub-health centres, and health workers to ensure adequate stock of life-saving drugs and other medicines, he said.

The officials have been instructed to make people aware especially in remote areas for taking precautionary measures to avoid seasonal diseases, the official said.

There are chances of citizens suffering from heat strokes due to scorching heat conditions prevailing in the entire state during summer months, he said.

The symptoms of sunstroke are high fever, lack of perspiration, severe headache, severe pain in hands and legs, redness of skin, giddiness and becoming unconscious, the official said, adding that citizens should take preventive steps like avoiding moving around in afternoon, covering entire body and wearing light cotton clothes.
