Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh here today demanded from Centre a 24-hour Doordarshan channel for his state to reach out to people living in its remote areas.
During a meeting here with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Singh also demanded a special package of Rs 3,000 crore for overall development of the Naxal-affected Bastar region.
He said that the special package would strengthen the efforts of the state government to ensure employment and development in the area and pave way for peace and progress of Bastar.

The chief minister said a 24-hour Doordarshan channel would benefit people living in remote areas of Chhattisgarh, a release issued by the state government said.
Singh also raised with the FM the issue of permission of import clearance of unshredded scrap at Inland container depot in Raipur.
Due to non-clearance of import, he said, entrepreneurs have to go to Nagpur and Visakhapatnam, resulting in wastage of money and time.
Singh said that it also affects export from the state.
