Chhattisgarh Governor Balramjidas Tandon and Chief Minister Raman Singh today expressed grief over the death of first Governor of the state Dinesh Nandan Sahay.
The Chhattisgarh government has declared one-day state mourning today as a mark of respect to the leader.
In his condolence message, Governor Tandon said Sahay had left a deep impression in his political and administrative life and always worked for the welfare of poor, farmers and other sections of the society.

Condoling his death, chief minister Singh described Sahay as an experienced administrator.
Singh said Sahay had always worked for the rapid development of the state.
82-year-old Sahay died at a private hospital in Patna after a prolonged illness last night.
He was Chhattisgarh Governor from 2000 to 2003.
