The body of CISF Head Constable Dinankar Mukhopadhyay, who was killed in a suspected Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Thursday, was brought here on Friday for cremation by a special flight.

The flower bedecked coffin containing Mukhopadhyay's body was placed on a podium at the NSC Bose International Airport on arrival.

CISF jawans later gave him a guard of honour at the airport and took the body to his ancestral house at Ichhlabad in East Burdwan district.

Officials from the Indian Air Force, where Mukhopadhyay worked earlier, also gave him a floral tribute.

Family members and neighbours of the slain jawan broke down in tears as his body was brought to the Ichhlabad residence.

Mukhopadhyay was posted in CISF's Garden Reach unit here and deployed in Chhattisgarh for the state assembly elections to be held in two phases on November 12 and November 20, CISF sources said.

He is survived by wife and a son.

Four civilians and the CISF jawan were killed when suspected Naxals blew up a bus with an improvised explosive device (IED), the third such attack in 15 days in the poll-bound state.
