Chhattisgarh power utility records loss of Rs 2184 cr in 2 yrs

Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) recorded a loss of Rs 2,184.59 crore between 2013 and 2015, the state assembly was informed today.

In a written reply to a query by Congress legislator and state party chief Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister Raman Singh said CSPDCL recorded a loss of Rs 630.42 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 1554.17 crore in 2014-15.

"Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Ltd (CSPTCL), Raipur has suffered a loss of Rs 2.84 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 40.32 crore in 2014-15," Singh said.

Similarly, Chhattisgarh State Power Trading Company Ltd witnessed a loss of Rs 2.77 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 1.74 crore in 2014-15, he added.
 

State power generation company CSPGCL, which recorded a loss of Rs 683.96 in 2013-14, netted a profit of Rs 354.15 crore in 2014-15.

Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company Ltd (CSPHCL) recorded a profit of Rs 8.47 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 1.08 crore in 2014-15, he added.
With regard to power generation in Bihar, he said two

thermal power plants of 195 MW each at Muzaffarpur would become operational by December this year, while another thermal power plant with two units of 250 MW each at Barauni would be completed in this fiscal.

Bihar would also get 67 per cent share from three under-construction thermal power units with generation capacity of 3x660 MW at Navi Nagar in Aurangabad district, all of which would become operational between June 2017 and March 2018, the minister said.

Exuding confidence that Bihar would become a power surplus state in the next two years, Yadav said given the progress in power plants and laying of transmission infrastructure, he was confident that all households in Bihar would get power in the next two years.

The state Electricity minister took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attacking the Nitish Kumar government over poor power scenario in Bihar while campaigning for the NDA during the Bihar Assembly polls and said the people have given their verdict, which proved that they have been happy with the state government over power situation.

Yadav said he was at the same time glad that the Prime Minister praised the Chief Minister for remarkable works being done by the state government with regard to implementation of rural electrification scheme and said Modi's warm words for Kumar would boost the state government's endeavour to further improve power scenario in Bihar.
