During his visit to one of the three camps set up for victims of the recent Bodo-immigrants clashes, Chidambaram had to pacify angry Muslims who alleged that Hussain did not help them despite repeated appeals when they were attacked by Bodos last week in neighbouring Kokrajhar district.
The protesters raised slogans like 'Rockybul murdabad', 'Chidambaram zindabad' and 'Rockybul go back'.
The home minister listened to their leaders and assured them that their grievances would be taken care of.
"Our main complaint is against Rockybul, not against the home minister. Despite our repeated appeal, Rockybul did not do anything to save us when we were attacked," Osman Gani, an inmate of the camp, said.
Hussain, however, refuted the allegations saying he tried his best to help the affected people.
Chidambaram said all help will be provided to the people here and the government will also take care of their security.
The home minister, who arrived in Guwahati yesterday, was on a two-day trip to the lower Assam districts where violence between minority immigrants and Bodo tribals have claimed 56 lives.
