CBI tonight arrested two persons including the chief manager of public sector undertaking Madras Fertilisers for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from a man for issuing a certificate for a product without using it.

CBI alleged that Gnanasambandam, chief manager at the PSU which manufactures ammonia, urea, complex fertilisers and biofertilisers, was arrested while he was accepting the bribe from K V Reddy, who represented the firm.

The favour to be extended to the firm was to issue a Guaranteed Test Run Certificate so as to claim bills towards Reverse Osmosis Membranes supplied by Reddy's company, the CBI claimed.

After placing both the persons under arrest, CBI carried out searches at their residences and offices, it said.
