The chikungunya outbreak in Delhi is the worst in the past six years.

According to municipal data, over 1,000 people were affected by this vector-borne disease till September 10. The last time the number of affected people reached the three-figure mark was in 2011.

On Sunday, the Delhi government launched a mass awareness drive to motivate people to clear out stagnant water in premises of residential and public buildings, even as the city continued to battle rising cases of chikungunya and dengue.
