Child dies after consuming medicine given by Anganwadi Kendra

A three-year-old baby has died allegedly after consuming health supplement tablets given by an Anganwadi Kendra at Ranka village here, police said.

Sakina Kumari, daughter of Murari Paswan, was given the medicine by an Anganwadi Kendra at Ranka village on February 10, they said.

A complaint against the Anganwadi Sevika has been lodged by the victim's father at Ariyari police station.

As per the complaint, Paswan said that his daughter started vomiting on Friday evening, the day she was given the dose following which she was admitted to Ariyari primary health centre yesterday.

She was later referred to Sadar hospital where she died during the treatment, he said.
 

A committee under District Immunisation Officer Arvind Kumar has been constituted to probe the incident, police said.
