Police said Prema Mary was detained along with her second husband Balakumar at Doresani Palya here last evening.
Mary had fled with a baby boy from state-run Vani Vilas hospital after befriending the infant's mother and sending her to bring tea on December 21.
From Vani Vilas hospital, the woman took the infant to a private nursing home in Jayanagar from where she procured false documents regarding the baby's "delivery" there.
Police today took into custody Dr Prema Nataraju on the charges of bringing disrepute to medical profession and instigation for abduction of the child.
The doctor had also phoned up Mary's husband and collected Rs 7,900 towards "delivery charges", they said.
