The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today granted CB-CID police time till February 3 for tracing a baby boy, who was abducted from the government hospital here by a woman posing as nurse on June 15,2013.

A Division Bench of Justice A.Selvam and Justice D.Mathivanan, who were hearing a Habeas Corpus Petition, told police to trace the child and produce it by that date.

The CB-CID counsel submitted today that they had interrogated 200 women who resembled the woman whose image had been recorded in the CCTV footage. So far they could not trace the child lifter. They said they were making all efforts to trace the child, leaving no stone unturned.

Following the submission, the court directed the CB-CID to trace the child and produce it by February 3.

The infant's mother Meenakshi, through a miscellaneous petition, had earlier pleaded to transfer the case to the CBI as local police were not able to trace the child even after one year. However, the High Court ordered the case to be transferred to the CB-CID.
