A child medical institute was today inaugurated in Noida by principal secretary of UP Health department J P Sharma.

This will be a unique facility and best of its kind in north India, Sharma said, adding that only OPD section was inaugurated today.

Post-graduate medical courses (MD) will be offered at the institute and the first session is likely to begin next year, said institute director A K Bhat.

Former UP Chief Minister Mayawati had conceived the facility as a super-speciality hospital and spent over Rs 500 crore on it.

But the Samajwadi Party government decided to turn it to a dedicated child facility.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav today inaugurated 340-bed private super-speciality hospital at Sector 110 of Noida.
