Children brought for work without documents rescued

As many as 145 children, including 95 girls brought from Odisha without valid documents were detained and rescued by Kerala railway police at Parasalla railway station here today.

An Odisha based agent who transported the children via Chennai to work in a private firm here has been taken into custody, police said.

The agent told the police that they were brought here to work in a private firm in the city after giving them training.

On a tip off that a group of children were travelling in a train from Chennai to Thiruvanathrapurm, police conducted search and rescued them.

They would be produced in the Railway Court and further steps would be taken as per Court's order, police said.
 

The children had left Odisha three-four days ago, police said.
