Red chilli and jeera prices rose sharply by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pick-up in demand from local parties and overseas enquiries.

Red chilli prices went up by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 6,600-12,600 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 14,300-14,800 and Rs 17,500-18,000 per quintal.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against rising export demand mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
