Amid rising domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing belts, chilli teja prices shot up by 3.60 per cent to Rs 8,980 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chilli teja for delivery in July month spurted by Rs 312 or 3.60 per cent to Rs 8,960 per quintal with an open interest of 80 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June contracts moved up by Rs 124 or 1.45 per cent to Rs 8,698 per quintal in 1,700 lots.
Analysts attributed rise in chilli teja prices at futures trade to rising demand at spot markets against restricted supplies from producing regions.
