Supported by rising demand in the spot market and restricted supplies from producing belts, chilli teja prices rose by 1.77 per cent to Rs 9,676 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chilli teja for delivery in June rose by Rs 168, or 1.77 per cent, to Rs 9,676 per quintal with an open interest of 2,010 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in July gained Rs 154, or 1.57 per cent, to Rs 9,934 per quintal in 740 lots.
Analysts said upsurge in demand in the spot market against tight supplies following decline in arrivals from producing belts mainly pushed up chilli teja prices at futures trade.
