Chilli teja prices plunged by 3.67 per cent to Rs 8,602 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators reduced positions, driven by subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chilli teja for delivery in July month dropped by Rs 326, or 3.67 per cent to Rs 8,602 per quintal with an open interest of 70 lots.
The June contract traded lower by Rs 98, or 1.13 per cent to Rs 8,610 per quintal in 1,460 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stock position mainly pulled down chilli teja prices at futures trade.
