Chilli, turmeric prices fall on sluggish demand

Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today following easing demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks on higher arrivals from growing regions.

Chilli and turmeric traded lower by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 8,600-15,100 and Rs 7,500-11,500 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said slackened demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 160-190, black pepper (per kg) 630-780, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,730-1,750 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,980-2,000.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 780-840, cardamom (colour robin) 780-800, cardamom bold 790-810, cardamom extra (bold) 920-970 and cloves 710-810.
