Chilli, turmeric rises on increased demand

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today on pick up in demand from stockists and retailers.

Red chilli and turmeric increased by upto Rs 300 to settle at Rs 7,600-12,600 and Rs 8,700-13,300 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said rising demand from stockists and retailers against fall in supplies from producing belts, pushed up chilli and turmeric prices.

Following are today's quotations:

Ajwain (per kg) 175-220, black pepper (per kg) 780-960, betel-nut (kg) 285-335, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,700-1,700 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,800-1,900.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 800-870, cardamom (colour robin) 740-770, cardamom bold 770-820, cardamom extra (bold) 970-1,000 and cloves 750-860.
