China, which operates world's largest number of nuclear plants, today said it has deployed thousands of devices across the country to monitor radioactive materials.
China is operating 22 nuclear power generating units and constructing another 26 units, the most in the world, the National Nuclear Safety Administration, the National Energy Administration and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, said in a joint statement, stressing no major accidents were reported so far.
China's nuclear history has not seen any incidents of Class II level or above, state-run Xinhua news agency said.
Over 110,000 radioactive sources and almost 130,000 ray devices are in operation across the country, making the communist giant a huge player in the use of nuclear technology, it said, adding that in recent years, incidents involving radioactive sources have decreased gradually.
Nuclear power construction, which was put on hold following the Fukushima nuclear incident in 2011 in Japan, is witnessing a good momentum.
