China launches BRICS summit media website

China today launched a website for the forthcoming 9th BRICS Summit which it will host in Xiamen city in September.

The site, www.Bricschn.Org, is the official website of the media centre.

The media registration system has also been opened on the site, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Xiamen is a coastal city in southwest China's Fujian Province.

Despite increased tension between India and China on host of issues including the standoff in the Sikkim sector, BRICS related meetings are going on at a brisk pace.

Four ministerial meetings including that of health and education were held in which India participated.
 

The BRICS leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, also met on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Germany and discussed preparedness and priorities for the forthcoming BRICS Summit in Xiamen.

Prime Minister Modi had "appreciated" the momentum in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) bloc under the Chinese chairmanship and extended full cooperation for the grouping's upcoming summit.

The National Security Advisors (NSAs) of the BRICS countries are due to meet later this month here which will provide an opportunity for NSA Ajit Doval and his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi to discuss the standoff between Indian and Chinese troops at at Dokalam area in the Sikkim sector.

Doval and Yang are the special representatives of the dialogue mechanism to resolve the boundary dispute.
