Eleven infants, including four baby girls kidnapped by a group for sale, were rescued and 34 suspects arrested by police in China's Yunnan province.
Newborn babies are often purchased in Yunnan's counties and sold in other provinces, state-run China Daily reported today.
Child abductions are rampant in China for years as the children are sold to childless couples to gain a huge profit.

The multi-provincial child abduction group spent 8,000 yuan (USD 1,266) to 10,000 yuan (USD 1,635) on purchasing an infant in rural areas of Yanshan and Guangnan counties in Yunnan province and sold them at the price anything between 100,000 yuan (USD 16,359) to 140,000 yuan (USD 22,903) each in Fujian and Shandong provinces, the report said.
In August last year, a couple was suspected of abducting and selling a girl in Kaiyuan railway section in Yunnan. At their instance, the police tracked the abduction group and arrested the group's head in Yanshan county following an investigation that lasted for more than six months.
The group was composed of members of a big family in Yunnan with the head surnamed Gong, a native of Zhaotong county in Yunnan.
In September last year, the police had rescued 92 children and two women kidnapped by a gang for sale and arrested 301 suspects in one of the biggest busts of its kind in years.
