China punishes 160,000 for disciplinary violation in 2012

Disciplinary inspection organs last year launched investigations into more than 1.55 lakh such cases based on tip-offs from the public, of which more than 1.53 lakh been concluded.

As a result a total of 160,718 people were punished, state news agency Xinhua reported.

The investigations have led to the successful recovery of 7.83 billion yuan (USD 1.24 billion) in economic losses for the country.
