China to be partner nation of Surajkund Crafts Mela

China will be the partner nation of Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2016, a senior Haryana government official today said.

A confirmation from China Tourism Administration has been received today regarding their participation as partner nation for the 30th Surajkund International Crafts Mela, Sumita Mishra, Principal Secretary to Government of Haryana, Tourism Department said.

The participation of China as the partner nation will also gel with the agreement signed during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to India in September, last year in which it was decided to commemorate 2016 as 'Year of China in India', she added.

In the preceding years, Thailand, African nations, Sri Lanka and Lebanon have been partner nations of the fair.
 

This year, 20 countries took part in the annual event.
