China to host 2016 Thomas-Uber Cups; Peru bag Jr World C'ship

Badminton World Federation (BWF) today announced the host cities for the 2015 World Junior Championship and 2016 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals here after its council meeting.

Peru's capital Lima will be hosting World Junior badminton Championship, while Kunshan in China has bagged the hosting right for the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.

Jakarta in Indonesia was the other city, which had bid for the prestigious Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in 2016, but China made the cut.

"Kunshan has been selected to host the Thomas and Uber Cup finals. The tournament will be held at the Kunshan Sports Centre," said BWF president Poul-Erik Hoyer Larsen of Denmark at a function here today.
 

The last edition of the Thomas and Uber Cup finals, which concluded recently was hosted by India from May 18 to 25 here in the Capital.

"I am glad to announce that Lima has bagged the hosting rights for the World Junior championship to be held in November 2015 at the National Sports Village," the President revealed.
