"As a friend and neighbour of India and Pakistan, China will continue to support the two countries to properly resolve their disputes and achieve mutual development through dialogue and cooperation," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei said.
"India and Pakistan are both important countries in South Asia, and their relationship is crucial to improving regional peace, stability and development," Lei told reporters, answering a question on the Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna's just concluded visit to Islamabad.
Krishna's three-day visit saw signing of a key pact on a liberalised visa regime between India and Pakistan.
During the visit Krishna met President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar.
