Chinese companies seeking working visas for their employees in India were facing problems as there was inordinate delay in getting them, Consul-General of People's Republic of China in Kolkata Wang Xuefeng said today.
"The complicated visa process in India discourage Chinese people to visit this country. The Chinese companies are facing problems as four to five months are being taken to get them," Xuefeng said at an interactive session organised by Bengal National Chamber of Commerce here.
This, he said, was pushing up costs for the Chinese companies.
"The Indian government should relax restrictions and facilitate more bilateral exchange," he said.
Talking about two-way trade between China and India, he said there was a need to strike a dynamic balance in the composition of volumes.
In 2000, trading volumes between the two nations were USD 2.9 billion, which had risen 20 times to USD 65.4 billion in 2013.
The trade balance was also highly skewed against India.
Given the size of the two nations, the current trading volume was not compatible, he observed.
