A 59-year-old Chinese tribal woman who has not cut her 2.52 meters long hair for the last 35 years is aiming for a new Guinness record, a media report said today.
Gu Meiying, a Miao ethnic tribal woman from southwestern Yunnan province, can easily be noticed from other local villagers due to her uncommonly long hair which grows six to seven centimeters annually.
"I consider my hair as a treasure and talisman," Gu said, adding that she believes long hair is good for health.

Gu, who refused a 19,000-yuan offer for her hair, winds it into five rounds on top of her head or three and half rounds around her waist when doing farm work, the report said.
It takes a week to dry after washing, Gu said.
The world's longest documented hair belongs to Xie Qiuping of China measuring 5.627 meters.
