A Chinese man has been arrested by the customs for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth about Rs 35 lakh at Delhi's international airport, according to an official statement today.
The 48-year-old accused was intercepted after his arrival from Hong Kong yesterday.
"A detailed personal and baggage search of the passenger resulted in the recovery of gold articles in the form of beads, belt buckle and pendant, total weighing 1.187 kg," the statement said.
The gold, which has been seized is assessed to be worth Rs 34.81 lakh, it said, adding that the Chinese man has been arrested.
