A provincial official in China has been caught hiding nearly a hundred pornographic videos in a cabinet containing numerous Buddhist statues and paintings.

Wu Zhizhong, former deputy secretary-general of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reportedly chanted sutras and worshipped the Buddha images every day, official media reported today.

Acting chairman of the Inner Mongolia Buddhist Association Zhao Jiujiu said it reflects Wu's loss of faith and emptiness of spirit.

Wu and two other senior officials were reported to be involved in various violations of laws and discipline.

Wu owns 33 properties in China and one in Canada.

Authorities also ferreted out over 2,000 valuable items, including gold bars, silver bars, paintings and luxury watches.

Dozens of Chinese officials have already being caught at various locations in China during the ongoing campaign against corruption and decadence.
