After conducting official business upon his arrival, Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a relaxed evening at the serene Sabarmati riverfront, where rich Gujarati tradition and culture were on full display.
After visiting Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram here, Modi accompanied the Chinese President and his wife to the riverfront, which was illuminated with attractive lights and fountains.
Xi, Peng and Modi were seen sitting on a Gujarat-styled swing, on which the two leaders had a brief chat. Later, while taking a walk along the riverfront, Modi and Xi were seen sharing some light moments.

To make the evening more memorable for the Chinese guests, traditional cultural programmes like the garba dance, tribal folk dance and playing of tabla were also organised. Models of Asiatic lion were put up at several places at the riverfront.
After the walk, the Chinese guests were taken to the specially-constructed domes for the dinner, in which Gujarati vegetarian delicacies were offered.
