A desperate woman in China has paid her nanny 10 years' salary in advance after she was fed up with her neighbours' repeated attempts to hire her domestic worker.

The woman in Shenzhen, in Southern Guangdong province paid the nanny USD 49,230 as her 10 years' salary in advance to ensure she does not quit.

The woman, surnamed Shi, hired nanny Chan three years ago. She said her neighbours desperately tried to hire Chan every time she left the apartment, 'Global Times' reported.

Shi increased Chan's salary three times over the past years, even though Chan did not demand a raise.

After learning that Chan's son has plans to marry this year, Shi made the daring decision to pay her 10 years' wages upfront so that she could help her son make a down payment on a house.

"I'm no longer worried about my neighbours stealing Chan away," Shi was quoted as saying.
