The Orissa High court today completed hearing on the bail application of Banki MLA Pravat Kumar Tripathy in connection with a chit fund case and reserved its judgement.

Tripathy was arrested by CBI on October 31, last year for his alleged links with chit fund company Arthatatwa (AT) Group.

In its preliminary charge sheet to court, CBI has charged the MLA with taking Rs 42 lakh from AT Group chief Pradeep Sethy.

Tripathy had allegedly taken the money while he was the President of Odisha State Cooperative Union to extend patronage to Sethy.

The MLA, who was suspended from ruling BJD soon after his arrest, is also charged with seeking monetary assistance from Sethy for social functions.
