CBI today arrested two persons in Bhubaneswar including proprietor of an Odia daily in connection with alleged chit fund scam, which is an off shoot of Saradha scam.

CBI arrested Bikash Swain, proprietor of Odia daily newspaper "Suryaparva" and Ranjan Kumar Das, close associate and personal assistant of a BJD MLA, both associated with Artha Tatwa Group, facing agency probe in chit fund scam.

Swain and Das have been arrested for alleged conspiracy and misappropriation of funds, CBI spokesperson said here.

At least 44 chit fund companies in Odisha have been named in as many FIRs which were mentioned in the May 9 Supreme court order on a civil writ petition filed in 2013.

CBI has formed a Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by Joint Director Rajiv Singh to also probe the role of Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and RBI.
