Senior IAS officer Rajiv Nayan Choubey was today appointed Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office in a minor bureacratic reshuffle in which Shatrughna Singh was moved from PMO to Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).
Choubey, a 1981-batch officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, is currently Additional Secretary in Ministry of Power, a post to which he was appointed in February this year.
Choubey was hand-picked by the then Oil Minister S Jaipal Reddy to head petroleum ministry's technical arm, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons in June 2012.

He was previously Development Commissioner (Handlooms) in the Ministry of Textiles from July 2, 2010 to June 11, 2012.
Singh, 1983-batch officer of Uttarkhand cadre, had joined PMO in 2010 as a Joint Secretary.
He was looking after aspects related to Coal ministry.
His name had cropped in the controversy related to showing of affidavit on CBI status report in the coal scam with CBI chief Ranjit Sinha telling Supreme Court that it had been shown to then Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and two officials in the PMO, including Shatrughna Singh.
The controversy had cost Ashwani Kumar his job.
