Chouhan dedicates "Krishi Karman" award to farmers

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has dedicated the "Krishi Karman" award for achieving maximum foodgrain production in the country to farmers.

Chouhan had received the award for the second consecutive term (2012-13), at the hands of President Pranab Mukherjee in a function held in New Delhi yesterday.

In 2012-13, Madhya Pradesh produced 277 lakh metric tonne of foodgrain to maintain its number one position in the country for the second consecutive term.

Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country which has won this honour for two terms on trot, since inception of the award in 2010-11.
 

The state topped in all three categories of wheat, rice and pulses production in the country.

In 2011-12, the total production of foodgrain in the state was 230 lakh metric tonnes, while in 2012-13, it stands at 277.84 lakh metric tonnes.
