During the last one year, prices of all types of fertilisers had gone up by more than two times, he said.

"The hike in fertiliser prices has broken the backbone of farmers who will now find it tough to survive and indulge in agriculture," Chouhan told mediapersons here.

The fast will be called off only if fertiliser prices were rolled back before June 15, he added.

He said his government had three main demands, which it wanted the Centre to accept at the earliest.

These were that the Centre should roll back fertiliser prices, prepare an effective fertiliser policy and ensure that the quantity of fertiliser which is allotted to any state, actually reaches it.

The Chief Minister said fasts would be observed on June 15 at all district headquarters and state ministers, MLAs and party office-bearers would participate in it.
