In an interview with TV mogul Oprah Winfrey, the "We Found Love" hitmaker said that she was left embarrassed and humiliated after the highly-publicized 2009 beating at the hands of Brown, reported Radar online.
"It was embarrassing, it was humiliating. I lost my best friend. I was resentful. I held a grudge, I was dark," she said.
The incident and what followed led the 24-year-old star down a dark path.
"I'm super-duper afraid of the pedestal that comes with fame," Rihanna added.
"Oprah's Next Chapter" featuring Rihanna airs on August 19.
