The 'Turn Up The Music' hitmaker, who infamously assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, spoke with parents and children at a back-to-school event with domestic violence organisation Jenesse Center and youth advocacy group The Change, reported MTV online.

"It's in my heart to show my fans, my friends and family and the families at Jenesse who stood by me they were right to give me another chance. I'm working hard to make them proud," he said.

The 23-year old singer is said to have started working with the charity back in 2009.

Brown also hit the headlines after being forced to deny that his new tattoo was of Rihanna's beaten face after his attack on her, revealing that the design was in fact a Mexican sugar skull.
