Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gives ten per cent of his million pound earnings to charity.

The singer's mother Alison used to keep ten percent of pocket money while he was growing up to teach him the importance of sharing and Martin has sticked to the same routine, reported Female First.

"Ten per cent of Chris' pocket money goes to charity," Jonny Buckland, the guitarist said.

"I used to get 10 pence pocket money. The first time she gave me nine, I was like, 'What is this?' [And my mum was like], 'Get used to it, son.' Mum still gives me three pounds a week," Martin added.

Now the 39-year-old singer's bandmates also give away ten per cent of their cash to 28 different charities every month.
