Churu, Sriganganagar shiver at 2.7 degrees

Cold wave conditions gripped Churu and Sriganganagar in Rajasthan as mercury dipped to 2.7 degrees, lowest in the state, a MeT department report said.

Fog in neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi continued to affect train services of North-West Region, an NWR official said.

About two dozen trains were running late by 20 minutes to 7:25 hours, two other trains were rescheduled while two on Alwar-Khairtal route were partially cancelled in the last 24 hours, the official said.

Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad train was running late by 7:25 hours while Khujarao-Udaipur by 6:45 hours, Hawara-Jodhpur/Bikaner by 6 hours and Jammu Tawi-Ajmer by 3 hours, the official said.
 

The train running between Ganganganagar-Delhi, to and fro, were rescheduled.

Pilani recorded a minimum of 4.3 degree Celsius followed by Mount Abu 4.4, Sikar 5.5, Bikaner 6.6 and Udaipur 7.4 degrees.

People in Jaipur had a respite from the cold for the last two days as the mercury shot up by few notches at 10 degrees, about four degrees more than the previous night.

No major change in the present cold conditions is expected in next 24 hours in the state, a forecast said.
